Established in 1966 with the aim of fostering an interest in every aspect of costume historical and contemporary in Scotland.
Founded in 1997 to bring together participants at the major medieval congresses who are interested in medieval dress and textiles.
Historic Dress and Textiles Collections
Embroideries from the 17th century and dress and accessories from the 18th century onwards. Women's late 19th and 20th century clothes, christening gowns, patchwork quilts, samplers, smocks and fashion plates, and wedding dresses, many of which are displayed at the Red House Museum.
Historical headdresses, costumes and accessories, individually hand-crafted to order and customised to suit existing outfits or a new ensemble for any historical setting be it re-enactment, music or dance.
Textile Collection University for the Creative Arts at Farnham
Aims to provide real examples that demonstrate the application of a broad range of textile techniques and processes. The collection consists of over 3,000 artefacts ranging in date from Coptic textiles c. 800-1000 AD through to Scandinavian furnishing fabrics c.1950-1990.
West of England Costume Society
Formed in 1973 to further the aims of the Costume Society of Great Britain; includes newsletter and list of current and past events.
